Toshiba exhibited a prototype of Direct Methanol Fuel Cell at CEATEC 2008, which is taking place in Japan.

DMFC is a new type of battery that uses a reaction between methanol, water, and air to produce electricity.

Toshiba mentioned that a 50mL refill cartridge would be able to recharge the phone 15 times. The prototype was said to get up to 6 hours of talk time, which is double that of similar cell phones.

Emobile Ltd., a new Japanese mobile operator, will unveil two new 3.5G HSDPA handsets, HTC S11HT EMONSTER and Toshiba H11T.

HTC S11HT EMONSTER (EMOBILE Net Smart Phone Terminal) runs on Windows Mobile 6 Professional, and features a 2.8 inch QVGA touchscreen display, a 3 Megapixel camera, a sliding full QWERTY keyboard, built-in GPS, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR. It measures 112 x 59 x 19 mm, and weighs 190 g.

HTC S11HT EMONSTER will hit the market starting March 2008, for a retail price of about $630 with a “Basic” Emobile plan.

Toshiba H11T comes in a clamshell form, and features a 400 x 240 pixels main display, a 96 x 39 pixels monochrome OLED secondary screen, a 3.2 Megapixel camera with auto focus. It measures 104 x 50 x 17.9 mm, and weighs 130 g.

Toshiba H11T will hit the market starting March 2008, for a retail price of about $540 with a “Basic” Emobile plan.

Toshiba 815T PB for SoftBank will be released soon. This cool handset can be transformed into a robot, and is made for the forthcoming release of Ketai Sousakan 7, a Japanese Sci-Fi TV series. It features a 2.4 inch internal display with a 240 x 320 pixel resolution, a 0.8 inch (96 x 39 pixels) external display, a 3.2 Megapixel camera with video recording, microSD card support for up to 2 GB of extended memory, 3G connectivity, Music Player, Infrared communication (IrDA). Toshiba announced Portégé G810, a new stylish touchscreen handset, at the Mobile World Congress 2008 in Barcelona. It features a 2.83 inches 65K colors QVGA touchscreen with a 320 x 240 pixels resolution, 128MB RAM, 256MB ROM, a microSD card slot, Windows Media Player Mobile, FM radio, Wi-Fi, built-in GPS and A-GPS function, Pocket Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PDF viewer), HSDPA and HSUPA. The Toshiba W61T comes in a clamshell, and features a 2.8 inch AM-OLED screen with a 240 x 400 pixel resolution, a 3.2 Megapixel CMOS camera with Auto focus, a microSD card slot, LISMO Media Player, built-in GPS, FM radio.

The Toshiba W61T is available in 3 colors: white, dark blue and pink. It measures 98 x 50 x 18.9 mm, and weighs 118 g.

Toshiba Portege G910 & G710 Handsets have been presented in Italy recently.

Toshiba G910 features a 3-inch, 480 x 800 pixels touchscreen TFT display, a full QWERTY keyboard, a 2 MP camera, Media Player, GPS, Bluetooth, Java (MIDP 2.0 and JSR179), VoIP (via Wi-Fi), 3G/HSPDA. This Windows Mobile 6 Professional powered handset measures 117 x 64 x 19.8 mm, weighs 183 g, and will hit the market in April 2008.

Toshiba G710 features a 2.4 inch TFT display with QVGA resolution, a full QWERTY keypad, a 2 MP camera, a microSD card slot, GPS, Bluetooth, GSM/EDGE. Toshiba G710 runs Windows Mobile 6 Standard, and measures 115 × 62 x 13 mm, weighs 130 g. It will be available in March 2008.
