Samsung i740 will first be available in Ukraine, starting the second half of August, for a retail price around 1950 Ukrainian grivnas (245 Euros or 386 USD). The new touchscreen smartphone first appeared on the Web about three weeks ago.

Measuring 107 x 59 x 13.9 millimeters, the i740 touchscreen handset brings the following features: tri-band GSM connectivity (900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with GPRS and EDGE, a 2.8 inch TFT display with 262K colors and 240 x 320 pixels, a 3 Megapixel camera with auto focus and flash, internal GPS, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, Music and Video players, FM radio, email, Web browser, USB 2.0, 150MB of expandable memory, and a 1500 mAh battery that should offer decent talk and stand-by times.

Besides Ukraine, the i740 will probably also be released in other Eastern European countries and Russia, as well as in the Asian markets (like China or India).

Samsung i740 touchscreen phone was recently unveiled on the Czech website iDNES.

Samsung i740 comes only with quad-band GSM connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz), without 3G or Wi-Fi. Knowing this, the new handset might mainly for the markets where 3G is not yet widely embraced, like India, China or South America.

Samsung i740 should be available by the end of this summer – we’ll see then what its target is as well as for what retail price it is being offered.
