Samsung SCH-W510 ‘Corn Phone’

Samsung SCH-W510 'Corn Phone'

Samsung SCH-W510 (or Samsung W510), made out of bio-plastic materials, was recently presented in South Korea. Korea Eco-Products Institute has awarded the handset a “green label”, making it the first Korean phone to get this award.

The plastic used in Samsung W510 is obtained from corn, literally. Moreover, the new handset doesn’t include hazardous metals like Cadmium, Lead or Mercury.

Coming in a slider form factor, the W510 brings the following features: a QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) display, a 3 Megapixel camera with flash and video recording, secondary camera for video calls, CDMA and HSDPA connectivity for data transfer speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps, mobile TV, Music and Video players and Bluetooth.

The W510 is already available in South Korea, in two color versions: green and black. Unfortunately, there is no word of its release in other countries yet. But the W510 was approved by the FCC a few months ago – thus, the Corn Phone will soon be available in the US too.
